Children’s Dentistry

Children’s dentistry, also known as pediatric dentistry, is a specialized area of dentistry that focuses on the dental needs of children from infancy through adolescence. Baby teeth are important for your child’s health and development. Playing a role in chewing, speaking and smiling, milk teeth maintain space in the bone for permanent teeth.

Who needs Children’s Dentistry

Children’s dentistry is essential for children to establish good oral health habits early on and maintain healthy teeth and gums. Children should start seeing a dentist as soon as they have teeth, and continue with regular checkups and cleanings throughout their childhood. Pediatric dentists can provide specialised care for children’s dental needs.

The first teeth erupt at about 6 months, although some babies don't get their first tooth until 14 months.

Early dental checkups will help your child feel comfortable at the dentist and have a proper oral care routine. In addition to detecting cavities and other problems, we’ll teach you proper oral hygiene procedures for the healthy development of permanent teeth. Most children have 20 primary teeth by age 3. Our pediatric dentists provide a range of services, including preventative care such as regular check-ups, cleanings, and fluoride treatments, as well as treatments for dental issues such as cavities and tooth decay. They also monitor the development of children’s teeth and jawbones, and may recommend orthodontic treatments when necessary.

Amazing team from reception to nurses and doctors.

As a very nervous patient, I have received very kind and professional care from the lovely Doctor Georgeta Miron who takes the time to explain treatment and put my mind at ease.

I must also thank Dr. Ancuta Tiplic who I was referred to for some specialist treatment and was also very kind and considerate.

Many Thanks to all the team.

Cannot praise enough the care, patience and professionalism of Dr. Ana Andreea Vasiliu and the EgoDent staff. I am one of the worst dental patients possible, but Andreea always finds the best way to deal with me :)

FAQ

It is generally recommended to visit the dentist every six months for regular check-ups and professional teeth cleaning. However, the frequency may vary depending on your oral health needs. Your dentist will provide personalized recommendations based on your specific dental condition.

To maintain good oral hygiene, it is essential to brush your teeth at least twice a day using fluoride toothpaste, floss daily to remove plaque and food particles between your teeth, and rinse with an antimicrobial mouthwash. Additionally, adopting a healthy diet low in sugary and acidic foods and drinks can contribute to maintaining optimal oral health.

In the event of a dental emergency such as a toothache, knocked-out tooth, or injury to the mouth, it is important to contact your dentist immediately. They can provide guidance over the phone and schedule an emergency appointment to address the issue promptly. It is crucial not to delay seeking dental care in emergency situations to prevent further complications.

Dental X-rays, when performed with proper safety precautions, are considered safe. The amount of radiation exposure from dental X-rays is minimal, and dentists use lead aprons and collars to protect patients from unnecessary radiation. X-rays play a crucial role in diagnosing dental conditions that are not visible to the naked eye, helping dentists develop appropriate treatment plans.

There are several options for replacing missing teeth, including dental implants, bridges, and dentures. Dental implants are a popular choice as they provide a permanent solution that looks, feels, and functions like natural teeth. Bridges are used to fill the gap between one or more missing teeth, while dentures are removable appliances that replace multiple missing teeth. Your dentist can assess your specific case and recommend the most suitable option for you.
